Controversial Representative Reelected

Murtha came under fire for saying that parts of Pennsylvania harbored white racists who wouldn't vote for Obama. In the end the Democratic sweep of much of the country surfaced in Pennsylvania as well. Obama's big victory had down ticket effects which helped Murtha win.

These words could be heard from the upstairs of the Tabler Arts Center in Tabler Quad by Alex Nagler, President of the Stony Brook College Democrats. Room 107 was the site of Electapalooza, a party thrown by the college Democrats in support of Presidential Democrat nominee Barack Obama.

Sen. Barack Obama dominated the polls at Stony Brook University Tuesday night, garnering more than 77 percent of the popular vote.
Obama, the democratic nominee for president swept 1,778 of the 2,324 ballots cast at the polling station. Obama’s landslide win mirrors the results of the primaries held at the university in February, when he collected 56 percent of the total number of votes.

Placed within an elegant ballroom decorated abundantly with blue and white balloons, a quiet evening began picking up for local Democrats at the Mariott hotel in Islandia, NY.
Election propaganda adorned the walls of the large room as eager guests and politicians watched two large projection screens with the latest updates.
Although the crowd started the night very quiet and calm, the number of guests picked up as the night moved on, and with it enthusiasm picked up as well.

NBC News Gives NM To Obama

NBC News is projecting New Mexico for Obama.
New Mexico was a state that narrowly voted for George W. Bush in 2004. It was a battleground state in this election as well, with polls consistently showing Obama ahead in the state in the weeks leading up the election.
